ENB – Electromagnetic Navigation Bronchoscopy™
ENB uses electromagnetic navigation bronchoscopy (like a GPS system you use in your car) to access lesions (spots) and stage lymph nodes deep in the lungs in a very minimally invasive manner with no incisions necessary. This procedure is all done through the mouth with the use of a thin, flexible catheter (tube).
Many of the surgical options today can be used only in patients who meet certain criteria. However, ENB can be used with a broad group of patients, even those who are not suitable for other surgical techniques. Using ENB, physicians can locate, test and plan treatment for small lung lesions (spots) not reachable through traditional bronchoscopy procedures. Most patients treated with ENB are done as outpatients and go home the same day with minimal discomfort. Some patients experience a mild sore throat, hoarseness, or cough following the procedure.
